Why We’re leaving the WordPress repository

We’ve always been dedicated to providing value to our users. Since its launch, the plugin has helped thousands of websites.
We did it all for free. However, to continue maintaining the plugin, we’ve decided to transition from a free model to a paid one. Here’s why:

1. Sustained Development and Support
   As technology evolves, maintaining a WordPress plugin demands more resources. From bug fixes and security updates to compatibility with new versions of WordPress and third-party themes or plugins, it takes time and expertise. The paid model will allow us to dedicate more time to making sure the plugin is always secure, up-to-date, and rich in features.
2. We don’t like Automattic’s recent actions and don’t feel comfortable anymore on the repository.
   As they took over the plugin Advanced Custom Fields, they could do the same for any other plugin.
   The probability that they will do it with Freesoul Deactivate Plugins is low, but we don’t like this atmosphere that has been created.
   We want our plugin users to always have access to our plugin, and we want to make ourselves independent from the repository.
3. Priority Customer Support
   One of the most requested services has been more responsive and dedicated customer support. Moving to a paid plugin allows us to offer personalized, priority support with faster response times, helping users troubleshoot issues and make the most of the plugin’s features.
4. Sustainable Business Model
   By converting to a paid plugin, we ensure long-term sustainability. This financial support will allow us to hire additional team members, invest in research and development, and guarantee that we can keep delivering value well into the future.

We understand that this change may come as a surprise, and we want to make the transition as smooth as possible. Current users will have the option to upgrade at an incredible price, but you have to do it quickly. We’ll continue offering basic support for the free version only for a limited time.
